System Requirements
- A Macintosh running operating system Mac OS X Version 10.1 or later, with
at least 128 MB of RAM
- 4 MB of free disk space
- PPP networking software for a serial connection to the Terminal/MetaFrame
server
Installation Instructions
- Open a web browser.
- Go to http://www.busserv.ucsb.edu/barc/macfiles.htm.
- While holding down the control key, click on the link for the OS X Client.
- Choose "Download link to disk" from the pop-up menu.
- Click Save to accept the defaults (Save As: osx.dmg, Where:
desktop)
- Repeat steps 3-5 for each of the four Connection Scripts.
- Double-click on the osx.dmg file on your desktop.
- Drag the Citrix ICA Client folder to your Applications folder.
- Double-click on the 800-barc.ica file on your desktop.
- If a text file opens instead of the Citrix ICA application, close the window
and drag the .ica file to the Citrix ICA application. After the first association
with Citrix, the connection script should appear with a Citrix icon.
- A connection to the Terminal Server is launched and the BARC logon page
appears.
- The window size is not resizeable. If you cannot see all four edges of the
window, choose "Best Window Position" from the File menu and see
if that helps. If it doesn't, close the window and try the smaller 640-barc.ica
file. If the window could be larger, try the next largest 1024-barc.ica connection.
If the window could be larger still, try the 1280-barc.ica connection file.
- The size of the window in which the BARC application is displayed does not
affect the size of the fonts within the window. If you prefer a larger font
size, lower the resolution of your monitor.
- After you determine which connection script works best for your monitor
size and resolution, drag the other three connection scripts to the trash.
You may redownload a new connection file from the http://www.busserv.ucsb.edu/barc/macfiles.htm web
page at any time.
- Drag the osx.dmg file to the trash.
- Drag the Citrix ICA Client drive to the trash/eject.
User Instructions
- Connect to the BARC page by double-clicking on the .ica connection script
on your desktop. You may also drag this file into your dock or move it to
another folder on your computer.
- Click Continue at the Certificate Name Check.
- If necessary, select "Best Window Position" from the File menu
to get the window to display correctly on your monitor.
- Always use the START button in the bottom left corner of the window to "Log
Off barc" when you are finished with your BARC session. In some cases
you might need to use the scroll bar on the right side to get to the bottom
of the window.
Instructions for OS 9 Users
System Requirements
- A Macintosh with Operating System 7.5.3 or later.
- 8 MB of memory available.
- 3 MB of free disk space.
- 256 color (or better) video display.
- Open Transport TCP/IP Version 1.1.1 or later
- PPP networking software for serial connections to the Terminal/MetaFrame

Installation Instructions
- Open a web browser.
- Go to http://www.busserv.ucsb.edu/barc/macfiles.htm.
- While holding down the control key, click on the link for the OS 9 Client.
- Choose "Download link to disk" from the pop-up menu.
- Save the file to your desktop.
- Repeat steps 3 to 5 to download each of the four connection scripts and
save them to your desktop.
- Double click on the Citrix ICA Client 6.0.sea file that you just downloaded
to the desktop.
- Double-click on the Installer.
- Click Continue when the Citrix splash screen appears.
- Click Yes at the Citrix Software License Agreement dialog.
- Click Select Folder.
- Navigate to the Applications (Mac OS 9) folder and click on the Open
button.
- Click on the New Folder button.
- Click Create to accept the default new folder name (Citrix
ICA Client).
- Click on the Select Citrix ICA Client button.
- Click Install.
- Click Quit.
- Drag the original Citrix ICA Client folder on the desktop to the trash.
- Drag the Citrix ICA Client 6.0.sea file to the trash.
- Double-click on the 800-barc.ica file on your desktop.

and drag the .ica file to the Citrix ICA application. After the first association
with Citrix, the connection script should appear with a Citrix icon.

- Always use the START button in the bottom left corner of the window to "Log
Off barc" when you are finished with your BARC session. In some cases
you might need to use the scroll bar on the right side to get to the bottom
of the page.
